The Flachbau was created after widespread admiration of the 935 racecar, with which it shares it's sleek shape. The standard Flachbau is already an extremely desirable and rare car, but this example adds onto that with it's “505” option code which denotes it at a true factory steel U.S. specification Slantnose, making it 1 of only 160 ever built. This makes this car an extremely rare find in what is a veritable sea of European specification and grey market cars. Under the bonnet is a high-performance 3.3L turbocharged flat-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a factory optioned limited slip differential. The engine features an upgraded turbocharger with a GReddy boost controller, titanium exhaust system, Electromotive direct ignition with dual spark plug heads, polished water to air intercooler, and more! Four-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled rotors on every corner ensure that this über rare Porsche will stop on a dime. The exterior is finished in sleek, timeless, and correct Schwarz (Black) and is accented very nicely with bright yellow touches on the badges. The wheels are a special 17” 3-piece one-off custom made design and are wrapped in high-performance Dunlop rubber with 235/45/ZR17 in the front and 315/35/ZR17 in the rear. Factory options include a rare sunroof/moonroof for open top enjoyment, Porsche alarm system, dual power seats, and a high-end Porsche Alpine stereo unit with 2-CD changer and amplifier. You may be asking: “What's Choo Choo Customs?” Choo Choo Customs was one of the very successful conversion companies from the 1980's, much like ASC (American Sunroof Company) and Centurion. They would take on jobs from individuals as well as dealers, and even manufacturers. The Choo Choo Customs El Camino SS is an order straight from Chevrolet. Chevrolet would send out a number of partially finished El Caminos and Choo Choo Customs would transform them into the ultimate 80's sport utility pickup, complete with Super Sport graphics and a Monte Carlo SS front fascia conversion. Only 861 were made for the 1987 model year, which would also happen to be the final year for the El Camino (aside from a few stragglers that would be 1988s officially), making this an extremely rare find. Under the hood is the stout 5.0L V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor, connected to it's numbers matching Turbo-Hydramatic 350 transmission and a G80 optioned Positraction rear axle. Other features and options on this unique Elco include factory air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, power locks, power windows, AM/FM/Cassette radio with clock, tilt steering column, original optional aluminum Western wheels, F41 sport suspension, and a rare factory “Superlift” rear air shock system. Inside, this El Camino is in excellent condition and features a comfortable gray cloth interior with bucket seats and a center console and sports it's original Choo Choo Customs dashboard logo and recertification sticker in the driver's side door jamb. The exterior of this historical Chevy is finished in black with silver Super Sport graphics and “Designer Series” decals on the door handles as well as the cowl induction style hood.
