1 of only 3,878! - Peppy 1,147cc 4-Cylinder Engine - 4-Speed Manual Transmission - Twin Propellers - Dual Side View Mirrors - Unique and Desirable! - Finished in Red - White & Grey Vinyl Interior - Upgraded Vintage Radio w/ Cassette PlayerYou can't be mad in an Amphicar. There's just something about this quirky and unique little car (or boat) that you can't help but smile about. Under the hood in the rear sits the 1,147cc 4-cylinder engine of English origin that sends it's power through either a 4-speed transmission on land, or to the dual propellers when in the water, or both when approaching the ramp after a day on the water. The 770 is named for it's ability to achieve 7 knots in the water and 70mph on land. Everything is kept dry with special extra seals and a bilge pump to ensure your Amphicar is kept afloat. The interior is covered in white and grey vinyl that accents the maroon exterior very nicely, as does the white convertible top and glittering chromework. Perhaps the best Amphicar story comes by way of President Lyndon B. Johnson, who kept his Amphicar at his ranch in Texas and would give tours to advisors and friends in his 770. Often, President Johnson would act as if the brakes had malfunctioned as he barreled the car towards a small lake, his guests would begin to panic until they realized they were still dry and the car had leveled out on the water. It's obvious President Johnson loved his Amphicar and had many fun years with it, and now you have the opportunity to do the same in this delightful little red 770.
