For 1969, Camaro had all-new sheet metal except the hood and trunk lid giving the car a substantially sportier look. The grille was redesigned with a heavy 'V' cant and deeply inset headlights. New door skins, rear quarter panels, and rear valance panel also gave the car a much lower, wider, more aggressive look. The wheel wells were flattened with sculptured feature lines flowing off towards the rear of the car and rear-slanting simulated air slots ahead of the rear wheel. The front had a full width paint matched bumper integrated with the body color grille surround and round parking lights positioned on either side of the license plate. Under the hood of this rare piece of American automotive history is its numbers matching 455C.I. V8 engine equipped with the correct “D” heads. That marvelous motor is connected to a strong Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission with the famous Hurst “His & Hers” shifter for manually rowing through the gears of the venerable automatic, and a 3.23 Positraction rear axle to help put all the power to the pavement.
