The transmission has been upgraded to a strong A833 4-speed with a Hurst pistol-grip shifter and it's connected to the rear wheels via a 8¾” rear end. Equipment and features include power front disc brakes, dual “racing” mirrors, dual exhaust with chrome tips, Magnum 500 wheels, and more! The interior is in excellent condition and features bucket seats with a center console and a sporty 2-spoke steering wheel. While General Motors thought they were prepared with the Corvair Monza, Chrysler didn't have anything they considered sporty enough to compete with this newcomer, but they had the Valiant. Chrysler designers took the Plymouth Valiant design and tweaked it into a graceful two-door fastback that sported the largest single piece of glass ever fitted to a normal production car at the time. The Barracuda was born, named after one of the most feared vicious fish in the world. The Barracuda was successfully introduced for the 1964 model year and beat the Mustang to market by two weeks. Of course, we all know the story of the Mustang and it's success, but the Barracuda offered a unique experience for those that wanted something a little different. This first year Barracuda is an excellent example that sports the highest power engine available, the potent 273C.I. Both the Challenger and the 'Cuda have extremely loyal followings today, but there's certainly nothing else like the one-of-a-kind 1970 'Cuda. The 1970 model is arguably the best looking of all the 'Cuda and Barracuda models with it's deep inset grille with extra ventilation and the turn signals hidden at the top of the grille, practically tucked under the hood. The single headlamps on each side gave the grille, and therefore the whole car, a low, wide, and sleek appearance that no other pony car could match. The driving lights placed in front of the lower grille below the front bumper give the appearance of the sharp teeth of a barracuda, ready to attack. This gorgeous convertible example takes that uniquely sleek look to a whole new level. The exterior is finished in instantly recognizable Blue Fire Iridescent, also known as B5 Blue, and is accented by the black convertible top and black “hockey stick” Hemi stripe, as well as beautiful chromework. Under the hood is a beastly 426C.I. breathing through the highly desirable Shaker hood scoop and featuring upgrades such as MSD ignition and an aluminum radiator to help keep that powerplant running cool. The engine is connected to a heavy duty 4-speed manual transmission with a Pistol Grip shifter and drives the power to the rear wheels via the supremely strong Dana 60 rear axle. The exterior of this 'Cuda also features dual painted racing mirrors and Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in classic-look Firestone Wide Oval tires. V8 engine mated to the numbers matching heavy duty A727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission. According to the included build sheet, this GTX was born with a 3.23 Sure-Grip 8¾” rear end, S15 extra heavy duty Hemi suspension with front sway bar, 11” heavy duty brakes, and much more! This already stunning car also comes with it's original window sticker, adding to it's collectability even more. Other features include power steering, A01 light package, 3-speed windshield wipers, fender mounted turn signal indicators, A04 basic package, belt and body side moldings, and many other standard features included on the GTX. The exterior is finished in correct Y2 Sunfire Yellow and is accented by the correct V1X black vinyl top which is in excellent condition.
