Chrysler designers took the Plymouth Valiant design and tweaked it into a graceful two-door fastback that sported the largest single piece of glass ever fitted to a normal production car at the time. The Barracuda was born, named after one of the most feared vicious fish in the world. The Barracuda was successfully introduced for the 1964 model year and beat the Mustang to market by two weeks. With the advent of the muscle car era American Motors was not going to be passed up by the competition so they began to market to a more youthful segment of buyers. They began in 1966 with V8 power and quickly blossomed with performance car models: SC/Rambler, Rebel Machine and AMX through out the decade. Reportedly in 1968 AMC President of Marketing held a dealer meeting at one of Hugh Heffners Playboy Clubs and awarded the Playmate of the Year with a new custom built Pink AMX. Fast forward to 1969 at Sparks Motors in Bonne Terre MS; a lady school teacher wanted to order a new AMX in pink. She paid $200 extra for the car from the factory with '00' special color code. Flachbau is the German name given to this extremely rare variant of the 911 Turbo, but is often known as the Slantnose or Flatnose in English, for it's distinctively more aerodynamic, wedge-like shape, making it more akin to other supercars of the 1980's. The Flachbau was created after widespread admiration of the 935 racecar, with which it shares it's sleek shape. The standard Flachbau is already an extremely desirable and rare car, but this example adds onto that with it's “505” option code which denotes it at a true factory steel U.S. specification Slantnose, making it 1 of only 160 ever built. This makes this car an extremely rare find in what is a veritable sea of European specification and grey market cars. Under the bonnet is a high-performance 3.3L turbocharged flat-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a factory optioned limited slip differential. The engine features an upgraded turbocharger with a GReddy boost controller, titanium exhaust system, Electromotive direct ignition with dual spark plug heads, polished water to air intercooler, and more! Four-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled rotors on every corner ensure that this über rare Porsche will stop on a dime. The exterior is finished in sleek, timeless, and correct Schwarz (Black) and is accented very nicely with bright yellow touches on the badges. The wheels are a special 17” 3-piece one-off custom made design and are wrapped in high-performance Dunlop rubber with 235/45/ZR17 in the front and 315/35/ZR17 in the rear. Factory options include a rare sunroof/moonroof for open top enjoyment, Porsche alarm system, dual power seats, and a high-end Porsche Alpine stereo unit with 2-CD changer and amplifier.
