Sure, there were Challengers with bigger and more powerful engines, but the weight of those engines often made them feel heavy and cumbersome to drive. The T/A was a totally different animal. Under the lightweight factory fiberglass scooped hood sits the numbers matching, potent 340C.I. V8 fed by three 2-barrel Holley carburetors and exhaling through dual side exit exhaust, mated to the super strong A727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission with the 'Slap Stik' shifter and an 8¾” rear axle. This powertrain, as well as the fiberglass front and rear spoilers, make for a lightweight yet planted racing homologation car that feels like its ready to hit the track and dominate over any opponent. This was proven in the 1970 Trans-Am racing series where the Challenger held its ground excellently against competitors, with drivers like Sam Posey who was at the wheel of the #76 and #77 Challengers. This Challenger has been signed by Posey himself on the air cleaner lid for all to see when you pop those hood pins. This is a real deal T/A with the A53 option shown on the trim tag as well as the supplemental Trans Am trim tag and correct, T/A only, engine code in the VIN. Other features on this unique Challenger include power steering and brakes, high-performance aluminum radiator, Rallye instrument cluster, painted dual racing mirrors, as well as Mopar Rallye wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A rubber. Flachbau is the German name given to this extremely rare variant of the 911 Turbo, but is often known as the Slantnose or Flatnose in English, for it's distinctively more aerodynamic, wedge-like shape, making it more akin to other supercars of the 1980's. The Flachbau was created after widespread admiration of the 935 racecar, with which it shares it's sleek shape. The standard Flachbau is already an extremely desirable and rare car, but this example adds onto that with it's “505” option code which denotes it at a true factory steel U.S. specification Slantnose, making it 1 of only 160 ever built. This makes this car an extremely rare find in what is a veritable sea of European specification and grey market cars. Under the bonnet is a high-performance 3.3L turbocharged flat-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a factory optioned limited slip differential. The engine features an upgraded turbocharger with a GReddy boost controller, titanium exhaust system, Electromotive direct ignition with dual spark plug heads, polished water to air intercooler, and more! Four-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled rotors on every corner ensure that this über rare Porsche will stop on a dime. The exterior is finished in sleek, timeless, and correct Schwarz (Black) and is accented very nicely with bright yellow touches on the badges. The wheels are a special 17” 3-piece one-off custom made design and are wrapped in high-performance Dunlop rubber with 235/45/ZR17 in the front and 315/35/ZR17 in the rear. Factory options include a rare sunroof/moonroof for open top enjoyment, Porsche alarm system, dual power seats, and a high-end Porsche Alpine stereo unit with 2-CD changer and amplifier. The interior is covered in correct smooth Silver-Grey leather and features a leather wrapped Momo steering wheel and shift knob.
