It has a rigid rear axle with a differential. The rear axle had a track of 42 inches which was similar to the track of most cars. This was done so that the vehicle could use the same tracks that had been made by regular cars. The Servi-Car uses Harley-Davidson's 'W' model 45 cubic inch flathead. Which was upgraded from the 'R' Flathead model by mainly having a recirculating oil system instead of the constant-loss system of the 'R'. The 'W' flathead engine continued until the end of production in 1973. This motorcycle has just 17 miles since the restoration was completed. This is an honest survivor bike that was purchased new by the owner of a Harley Davidson dealership in Pennsylvania. When he passed away his son took ownership of the motorcycle as well as the dealership. He kept the bike and sidecar on display in a glass case in the dealership as a memorial to his father. When times got tough and the dealership had to shut its doors for good, the bike became available for sale for the first time since 1950. An avid collector in New Hampshire purchased the Pan Head and owned it for a short while but never had time to ride it, so were are fortunate enough to acquire it and add it to our museum collection.
