Well if you don't know, this is an Amphicar 770. Yes, it's exactly what is sounds like, this is an amphibious car. The name 770 comes from it's speed: 7mph on the water and 70mph on land. Power comes from the peppy 1,447cc inline 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. At the flip of a switch the dual rear props can be engaged and have forward and reverse gears. Both the rear wheels and props can be used at the same time during landings. Because of it's amphibious nature, the 770 comes equipped with dual bilge pumps and extra seals for all compartments to keep water out. It will certainly bring lots of attention both on land and especially in the water. The interior is covered in bold red and white vinyl with rubber floor mats for easy clean up incase of any water intrusion. Perhaps the best Amphicar story comes by way of President Lyndon B. V8 engine producing 325hp and connected to a 4-speed manual transmission and optional 3.31 Positraction rear-end all of which correlate with the correct dates for this car. This true 138 code Super Sport comes with it's original Invoice Order Sheet describing it's slew of factory options: Special Suspension Equipment, Fan Drive Equipment, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Bucket Seats with Center Console, Special Instrumentation with Knee-Knocker Tachometer, Deluxe Seatbelts, Simulated Wood Steering Wheel, Tinted Glass, and the rare Multiplex Stereo and Rear Speaker. But it's one last option that makes this car so rare; Special Paint Code '0-0.' This car was one of very few painted 'Carolina/Tar-Heel Blue', as in the University of North Carolina Tar-Heels.
